Rich Girl Caretaker Vol. 4 Afterword

Afterword

This is Yusaku Sakaishi. Thank you all for purchasing this book. How did you enjoy Volume 4 of "Rich Girl Caretaker"? Yuri, whose name has been mentioned since Volume 1, finally makes her appearance. I hope I was able to properly convey Yuri's cuteness to you all.

The setting this time wasn't Kiou Academy, but Karuizawa. It was nominally a "summer lecture," but in reality, it was the summer break arc. Because of that, compared to the usual school life, I was able to include different activities like a beach trip and a pajama party. While writing the pajama party scene with Hinako and the others, I found myself thinking: "This is a completely different atmosphere from an all-boys sleepover..." I've never been to a girls' pajama party, so I don't know for sure, but sleepovers are probably very different for guys and girls. In my experience, a high school boy's sleepover is: hang out during the day, then after dinner, either play video games until sunrise or watch movies. Only those two options. We might have chatted about random things, but I don't really remember. I don't remember talking about romance. After all, we were high schoolers, and no one lived alone, so our parents were under the same roof. In that situation, you don't really talk about love.

Looking back, it would have been embarrassing. The next morning, when we all went home, everyone looked like they were about to die. After becoming an adult, I feel like I have fewer chances to play until I'm completely exhausted. I still go to my friends' places to hang out, but I don't stay the night. Because even if it's a weekend, we have to go to work in a few days. We've learned to look ahead and conserve our energy. However, since I'm a freelancer, I can play without a care in the world!!!!! That's a lie. I also carefully check my schedule before making plans. ...Okay, that's enough about the main story. Or rather, my friends who are office workers have started to have more free time recently. For example, I've been hooked on a certain free-to-play FPS, and my friend said, "We can play on weekdays or weekends." Weekdays...? When I was an office worker, I always spent my weekday evenings alone. If I didn't, I couldn't recharge. My friends used to be the same, but maybe because remote work has become common post-COVID, they have more energy. Well, I'm busy, but I'm also starting to gain more mental energy. It's not about my bank account; I'm just used to my current work. I think it's the same for everyone. I used to think, "Once you're an adult, you can't have fun like you used to..." but once everyone gets used to their jobs, maybe we can hang out like in the old days. As Itsuki, Hinako, and the others get older, their values will probably change, too. (What a magnificent ending.)

[Acknowledgements]

While writing this book, I received immense help from the editorial department, the proofreaders, and everyone involved. To my editor, thank you for helping me figure out how deep to go with Yuri Hirano, who is such a unique character in this book. To Miwabe Sakura-sensei, the color swimsuit illustrations were devastatingly cute! Thank you so much again. Finally, to all the readers who purchased this book, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
