Rich Girl Caretaker Vol. 5 Afterword

Afterword

This is Yusaku Sakaishi.

This book will probably be published in February, but I'm writing this afterword in early January. Please allow me to proceed with that in mind.

This is a bit sudden, but do you all know the comedy quiz show "Correct Answ〇r One Year Later"?

Hiding one character seems pretty pointless, but I love that show.

To briefly explain, it's a show where, on New Year's Day, you predict what will happen that year, and at the end of the year, you check the answers. The guest comedians will guess things like, "So-and-so will marry so-and-so this year," and then at the year's end, they watch the video from the beginning of the year to check.

As I'm writing this afterword, it just so happens to be New Year's Day, and I'm thinking about my various resolutions for the year. Since it's a rare opportunity, I thought I'd try it myself.

I'll call it "Correct Answer One Month Later."

When this book is released, how many of my resolutions will I have achieved? I'll try to predict.

Sorry for using the afterword to talk about myself. But this is the inevitable fate of an author who is struggling to write an afterword.

My resolutions for this year are as follows:
  • Go outside two days a week.
  • Rest one day every two weeks.
  • Wake up before noon every day.
It's not great to say this about myself, but I'm a lost cause, aren't I? I feel pretty terrible that I've reached a point where I have to make these my resolutions.

So, let's predict what will happen in one month:
  • Go outside two days a week. I think this is impossible. After all, February is still cold, so I probably won't want to go out. I might reluctantly go if I run out of food, but I'll buy a lot at once, so I won't go twice a week. I was jogging until the fall, but now it's cold, so I'm just lifting weights at home.
  • Rest one day every two weeks. I think I can do this. There's a whole month until this book is out, so I can definitely schedule two days off before then. By the way, the reason I don't take breaks isn't so much that I'm too busy, but that I just love writing. But I also want time to take in new information, and I've recently started to reflect that I need vacations to refresh my mind and body. Hm? "Taking in new information isn't actually resting"? I don't know what you're talking about.
  • Wake up before noon every day. I think this is impossible. It's just so hard to get out of the futon in winter. It's the season's fault, really. If it weren't winter, it might be doable. But, it does feel great to wake up in the morning... To experience that, I want to achieve this goal this year. First, I'll try to wake up before noon just once a week. I think I can manage once a week.
Thinking back, I feel like the "correct answer" shouldn't be like this, so I'll work hard to avoid my own predictions. Everyone, do you feel like you can achieve your own resolutions for the year? One day, I'd like to write a scene where Itsuki and the others think about their New Year's resolutions. Volume 5 is the end of summer, so I guess we'll have to wait a while for a New Year's story...?

【Acknowledgements】

I received a great deal of help from many people while writing this book. To my editor, thank you for suggesting so many interesting activities for Hinako to experience. To Miwabesakura-sensei, thank you for drawing such cute illustrations of Hinako in her casual clothes. Even though it's the same character, I'm overjoyed that you're able to show a new side of her charm in every volume.

Finally, to all the readers who purchased this book, you have my deepest gratitude.
