Fellow Losers Afterword

Afterword

Thank you very much for picking up a copy of Fellow Losers Must Absooooolutely Become Happy! this time.

This is my third work published under Dengeki Bunko, following What Should I Do When I Lent a Friend 500 Yen and He Sent His Little Sister as Collateral? and Even if I Reincarnated as a Mob Character, Can I Still "Capture" My Stepsister?.

For every work, I've been allowed to write exactly what I wanted to write at the time, and for that, I am truly grateful. Although hardships are unavoidable, I had a lot of fun writing this one too!

The story of this work, Fellow Losers Must Absooooolutely Become Happy!, begins with both the protagonist and the heroine tasting the flavor of "defeat." I agonized quite a bit over to what extent I should set this defeat, and how far I should depict the "winners" who made them taste that defeat. I think this is also a point where readers' preferences might easily diverge.

Although I also considered writing dense, detailed descriptions of the winners and tracking their downfall to create many "serves you right" developments, it's not my preference to make that side the main dish and treat the relationship between the protagonist and the heroine as a mere bonus. Therefore, this time, I focused entirely on depicting the protagonist and the heroine.

Picking themselves back up from where they were hurt, and how they sorted out their feelings towards the winners—that fluctuation of emotions is endearing. Although the protagonist, Amou-kun, also revealed some incredibly unsightly sides of himself, I quite like even those parts. How should I put it, it feels more realistic. There are still so many things I want to write about him, such as his male friends, and his older sister who showed a slight presence in this work... If there's a chance, I vaguely think it would be nice to show all that someday. Vaguely.

The heroine, Sachika-chan, is simply ideal! Considerate! Cute! Gentle! Absolutely everything! ...Yeah, she feels like a perfect, overpowered heroine, which is why she could forcefully pull the pathetic Amou-kun forward. If there's an opportunity in the future, it would be great to show her more human, vulnerable sides too. What's with this report card-like evaluation?

And so, speaking of afterwords, here it is! My acknowledgments to everyone involved.

First of all, to Aroa-sensei, who drew the illustrations for this work. Truly, every single title page and illustration is completely flawless. In particular, Sachika's design was ultimately finalized because I (through my editor) selfishly requested that I "want her to look eye-catching," so I especially love it. The cover is also incredibly cute! Thank you so very much!!

Next is my editor-in-charge, who handled this work as well as my previous two. Sometimes strict—or rather, they were strict with this work quite often—but I rely on them greatly. I personally believe that a work should be polished as much as possible before being presented to the readers, so your corrections were truly invaluable and gave me the confidence to push this work out into the world. Please continue to look after me in the future!

And finally, to all the readers holding this book right now, thank you so very much. To those meeting me for the first time, and to those who picked up this book knowing who the author is, I would be deeply honored if this work allowed you to enjoy your reading experience. If you found it interesting, please definitely read my past two works as well!

How many more works will I be able to publish in the future... Although I've often felt anxious about this lately, it's precisely because of all of you that I feel the desire to "try even harder!"

Although things are a bit unstable in various ways right now, if there is a chance in the future, I would be overjoyed if you could spare the time to support me.

That's all for the Afterword! I wish good luck to everyone involved in the production of this book and everyone reading it!
